A very corroded, incomplete, iron Roman brooch dating to c. AD 1st-2nd centuries. Probably Polden Hill type, although any detail of the bow or head is now obscured by the corrosion layer. The brooch is missing its pin, spring and catchplace, and only a small section of the bow survives.  The brooch is 18.21mm long, 16..27mm wide, 5.02mm thick and weighs 3.95 grams.

A complete iron cannon ball of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1700. The cannon ball is spherical with an irregular corroded exterior surface. Due to corrosion it may be smaller than originally made. A large Post-Medieval to Modern iron key, dating from c. AD 1600-1900. The bow is kidney-shaped, with the stem projecting into the bow. The stem is corroded, but is essentially sub-circular in cross-section and becomes smaller in diameter at the point where the bit is attached. A corroded and incomplete Post Medieval iron shoe buckle with a loop chape and pitchfork tongue dating c. 1720-1790. The rectangular frame is undecorated with rounded corners and is drilled to accommodate the separate spindle. Attached to the spindle is a pitchfork tongue and the stubs of the base of a loop chape. Post Medieval-Modern cast copper alloy buckle, c.AD 1800-1900. This is a cast sub-rectangular frame of round section with a nick on its outer edge serving as a pin rest and with a slightly wavy profile with the strap bar set back from the frame. Rust stains on the strap bar and pin rest may suggest this was deposited with an iron pin attached, now lost. The robust construction may suggest use with horse or bridle harness.

A single iron spearhead of Early-Medieval date (c.6th to 7th century AD). Swanton type E3. The spearhead is almost complete but in bent condition. The remains of the head weigh c.362.0g. Use of a flexible dress-maker's tape-measure shows the artefact to have had a length of c.347mm and in its current bent condition it occupies a straight length of c.339mm between tip and socket end. The maximum width, across the head's shoulders, is 46.2mm. The thickness at that location is c.12.7mm. The spearhead has a very shallow lozenge shaped cross-section along its length. …
