Five fragments of bloomery slag that appear to have been produced from the tapping process. All display smooth molten ridges and channels on the face characteristic of runs of solidified molten taped slag. Where broken the core is seen to be dense but filled with abundant, small bubbles and cavities. These fragments measure 1, 35mm by 33mm 2, 50mm by 35mm 3, 70mm by 50mm 4, 42mm by 30mm 5, 115mm, by 80mm

An incomplete, iron object of likely Roman date (c. AD 43-410), possibly a furniture fitting or strip binding from a box. The object is roughly leaf shaped in plan, with a rounded point at one end and a broken rectilinear bottom. A long thin iron fragment, triangular in cross section, and gradually tapering in thickness to a point. At the thickest end are several notches in the metal. The iron was found in a thick encasing of corrosion with inclusions of shells and other marine debris. The find was removed from the casing by the finder. The tapering edges and pointed end appear to indicate this is a blade or an intentionally pointed object, however on closer inspection the tapering edge can be seen to be uneven and irregular, likely indicating that the piece has either splintered or fractured. It seems like…
