A possible post medieval pestle, dating from AD. c.1600-1800. The pestle is a long bar, widening at one end to a flat and slightly rounded end. At the opposite end there is a widened section which is disc shaped. The pestle is slightly distorted out of shape. It has a bright green patina with patches of red brown. It measures 81.2mm in length, 17.5mm in maximum width, and weighs 57.54g. Similar to  HAMP-636366 and SWYOR-154DC7

A complete copper-alloy object, probably a Roman cosmetic pestle or other cosmetic item. It consists of an elongated strip, sub-lozenge in cross-section. One end of this turns upwards slightly and culminates in a small rounded knop, while the other has a flattened, circular loop positioned at a right-angle to the strip. A cast copper alloy pestle of uncertain date - most probably later medieval - post medieval (1300 - 1700). The pestle is broadly cylindrical in plan, with a slender tapered handle terminating in a out-turned rounded knop. The opposite end expands towards a globular grinding surface with a rounded base. The stem of the handle is slightly faceted suggesting original it may have been an irregular hexagonal shape ins cross section. There is no applied decoration. An incomplete late Iron Age, or Roman cast copper alloy centre-looped pestle from a cosmetic grinder set c. 50 BC - 200 AD. The convex grinding rod/face is wedge shaped with the centre grip now perhaps missing it attachment form. The tip of the rod is missing from one end and there is extensive wear to the central area of the rod with a greater degree of erosion in that area. The surface has a mid-green eroded surface. See similar at SF-BB0E90 & LVPL-2174A2.

Copper alloy possible pestle. Cast zoomorphic object in the naturalistically rendered form of a snail. There are three coils to the spiral shell, whose surface is laterally grooved in an exaggerated fashion. This may have been calculated to enhance grip for a handle, and might suggest the design is influenced by the prominent coils of fossil ammonites which are unavoidable finds from the local North Lincolnshire ironstone. The remaining section has a small button at the complete end (a flat ended circular expansion 7.5mm in diameter) and an octagonal sectioned shaft which widens and thickens out rapidly at first from the complete end then continues to widen and thicken more gradually to the old break at the other end (from 6.7mm to 12.2mm). The pestle is D-shaped in section, crescentic and with a slight ridge along its outer edge perhaps resultant from use-wear(?).
