An incomplete cast copper-alloy object, possibly a ring, finger-ring, ear-ring or brooch of uncertain date, possibly dating from the late Iron Age to medieval c.100BC-c.AD1450 The object comprises a copper-alloy strip twisted around an annular copper-alloy rod. The ring is circular in cross-section. It is broken and slightly distorted probably due to plough damage. The ring has a light green patina with patches of iron corrosion on the external diameter. An incomplete, modern, glass inset, copper alloy artefact with a long body and forked terminal, Probably an incomplete peice of costume jewellery, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, possibly an art deco pendant flag or swoosh. Due to the forked end to the body I mistook it as a nail cleaner, left on the database just incase somebody makes the same mistake as me. The body is complete but twisted, but it is missing one or more glass insets. The frame is forked at one end and tapers down to a rounded point at the other. The rear is flat and plain, the front is rounded …

A fragment of cast copper alloy decorated curved strip probably from an item of jewellery such as a finger ring, or armlet. The strip is bent in a rough U-shape, it is parallel sided and rectangular in cross section. The upper surface has been cast with angled alternating notches which stretch for the entire length of the fragment. The underside is smooth. Both ends appear to terminate in breaks although this is difficult to acertain from the photograph. The degree of bend is more suggestive of a finger ring, but since this is in all likelihood affected by post deposition damage i…

A collection of Victorian jewellery, deposited as a 'hoard'. The deposit includes ear rings, necklaces, fragments from 'charm bracelets', and similar items. The metal is now very degraded and unidentifiable, but some of the bracelets bear copper alloy pendants and decorative stones (pebbles, rather than gemstones). The interest of this find lies in its mode of deposition; the entire collection was deposited in the ground, tangled together amongst metal wire. The reasons for such deposition remain unclear, but the action must have been deliberate, and an assoication with witchcraft…
