A complete cast circular copper alloy harness ring, probably of medieval or post-medieval date (AD1100-1800).
This circular ring is 27.46mm in diameter and of sub-oval - hexagonal cross section (3.93mm diameter); it weighs 5.15g. The face and reverse surfaces are flat and have a mid-brown, worn patina. The ring is undecorated.

A Medieval cast copper-alloy ring of a type often suggested to be harness rings (Geake, 2001, Finds Recording Guide, page 74), dating from c. AD 1200 - 1500, though they are typically undiagnostic. Dr Helen Geake (ibid., 74) also suggests that the broadly hexagonal cross-section which this ring possesses probably indicates a medieval date; it is bevelled externally and internally at the edge. It has very clear filemarks along the outer bevelled edges
