A complete cast copper alloy swaging block, of modern date (c.1890 to 1930 AD). It is semi-circular in plan and consists of a cast of the upper jaw (maxilla) from an adult. The teeth present are (from right to left): PM2, PM1, I2, I1, C, PM1, PM2, M1. This means that the denture would have false teeth for the right canine, and left lateral & central incisors. A copper-alloy and iron object resembling a tooth. It consists of a wedge-shaped block which tapers towards the bottom; extending from the angled upper surface is an iron spike. The object measures 14.8mm long, 5.9mm wide and 5.3mm thick. The weight is 1.01g. It is likely that this object is a post-medieval swaging block, a tiny anvil for the manufacture of a gold crown or cap for a partly damaged tooth.
