A complete cast copper-alloy end-looped cosmetic pestle dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 1-200 AD.  It consists of a crescentic sub-circular sectioned rod with one end pointed and the other demonstrating an integrally cast end-loop. It is plain with no decorative elements. It measures 44.79mm in length, 3.64mm in width and 3.97g in weight.  Similar examples can be found on the PAS database (SF-A3D5C7, SF-B6A85B SF-FADE94).

An iron age copper alloy cosmetic pestle dating to the period c 100 BC- c AD 300. The pestle is complete. The pestle is a curved rod of plano-convex section and with a small integral loop on the back close to one of the terminals. The opposite end is distinctly curved and appears to have worn thin through usage. The patina of the pestle is dark brown and it is pitted and accreted with corrosion. The pestle is a curved, oval-sectioned rod with a rounded tip. The loop was mounted on the top of the mortar and all that remains is a short section curving up at the end of the pestle and the section where the loop attached to the main rod of the pestle. It is thickest and widest in the middle. It tapers to a point at one end, and bends into a loop at the other.
