A cast copper alloy livery button. The face depicts a bull's head erased engorged of a ducal coronet, with a Tudor rose to the left and a portcullis to the right. The reverse has a stump for a loop shank with the maker's mark FIRMIN & WESTALL which dates the button to 1794-1811.

The makers name is moulded around the edge on the rear of the button. Copper alloy button. Uniform button, discoid and slightly concavo-convex but of unfamiliar style to this reporter. A central motif depicts the upper half of a facing figure with wild hair and a short-sleeved garment with its right arm raised, indeterminate objects lie to lower left. An inner circle separates the motif from a three-word circumferential legend: COUNTY FIRE OFFICE – the central word is less clear than the others. A drawn wire loop is brazed to the plain back. The object is composed of a circular disc, with a convex upper and concave underside, and an integral rectangular loop at the centre of the underside. A late Medieval to Post Medieval copper alloy button dating from AD 1450 - 1600. It has a domed solid head with a central pimple, and an integrally cast attachment loop. Measurements are; length 15.8mm, diameter 11.8mm and weight 5.37g.  The shank of the button is 8.6mm long. Compare examples in Bailey (2004) page 28, fig.7.25.
