An incomplete very attractive modern enamel work brooch dating from AD 1850-1920. The brooch pin is missing, the circular plate survives. It is inspired by earlier Limoges and Mosan champlevé enamel work of the medieval period and likely dates to the late 19th century Arts and Crafts revival of these designs. It is composed around a cruciform shape, with a central floreate cross lying within a white enamel squared lozenge. These are overlain by a knotwork design which divides the enamel into multiple cells. Traces of red and royal blue enamel can be seen, while the white lozeng…

An incomplete cast copper alloy mourning brooch of modern date (c. 1800-1850). Description: The brooch is rectangular with a rectangular central void. This is the front of the brooch, which would have originally been formed in two sections or layers, sandwiched together, thus forming a cell in the centre which would have enclosed possibly human hair with a glazed front. The back of this section appears to be copper alloy but the front has a gold colour surround and gold coloured lettering which reads 'IN MEMORY OF' around its top and two sides, with a decoration at the bottom, a…

Copper alloy brooch. Pressed metal concavo-convex figurative brooch with a separate bar incorporating a seat for a hinged pin and a catch plate brazed to the back. The brooch depicts a naturalistically rendered dog or wolf head with pricked triangular ears, a shaggy coat and - at least as it appears now - a fierce aspect; some part of the lower jaw and muzzle is lost, introducing doubt as to the breed or species represented (a square muzzle could, for example, depict a Yorkshire Terrier, which is not a breed renowned for ferocity, albeit having its devotees; Highland Terriers also ser…

Probable copper alloy brooch in the shape of two horses, probably of relatively modern origin. The object is made in the shape of a horse, with two separated front legs, the back legs now missing, with the front of another horse appearing behind, with two front legs separated, but joined at the hooves. The body of the first horse is also now bent at a right angle. The back of the object has a projection, rectangular and at right angles to the main body, rounded at the end. This is attached to the second horse, and was possibly originally a catchplate, as it appears to be slightl…
