Roman copper alloy bolthead for use with a catapult.
The head is of triangular section as opposed to the more usual square sectioned type (see Bishop and Coulston for examples). The upper half of the head is curved, probably through use, and the tip is missing. The break appears to have occured in antiquity as it has the same brown patina as the rest of the object.
