An incomplete copper-alloy brooch, possibly a headstud type, of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 200. Only the lower bow, foot and part of the catchplate remains. The bow is faceted and sub-rectangular in section with a worn break to one end and an integral oval foot knop to the other. The front of the bow is decorated with a shallow vertical groove. Between the lower bow and the foot knop, the brooch is decorated with circumferential grooves around the bow front. An incomplete copper-alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date, c. AD 75-175. Mackreth 2011, Trumpet Type 1.2b1, Plate 80, no.11826. The head is ovate with a single centrally positioned integral vertical lug to the reverse. The spring remain though the pin is lost. An axis bar remains fitted through the lug. Five (5) turns of the spring remain around the axis bar. The front of the ornate head is decorated with a pair of recessed arcs which were likely inlaid with enamel. The waist in the centre of the fragment produces the appearance of a pair of ovals joined by a narrowed mid-area.
