The pin comprises a spherical head and circular sectioned shaft. The head is decorated with sinuous spiralling grooves, a decorative type known informally as 'wrythen-headed'. The shaft extends from the base of the head and terminates in a worn break. A collar is present at the junction between the head and shaft.
The metal has a dark brown patina and survives in good condition. The pin is 31mm long, 9.5mm in diameter at the head and 1.8mm in diameter at the shaft, and weighs 3.3g.

An uncertain amount of the pin shank is lost to an old break. The head and circular sectioned shank appear to be cast as one. The head has a flat top with sides that slope out to a carination a third of the way down from which they slope inwards to meet the shank which is joined seamlessly with no collar, a shape known as 'flattened bi-conical'. The head of this pin is a flat circular disc. It is decorated on the upper surface with a thick equal armed cross dividing the plate in to four quarters. Each quarter bears an interlinked knot design. One quarter has a circular perforation close to the vertical arm of the cross suggesting it is from a linked pin set.
