An incomplete copper-alloy headstud brooch of Roman date, c.AD 75 - 200. Mackreth 2011, Hinged Headstud Type 4, Plate 72, no.11860.  The head of the brooch comprises rectangular wings the reverse of which act as a double lug hinge mechanism which retains a central axis bar. A closed loop pin remains around the axis bar, terminating in a worn break. The remains of an integral circular attachment loop projects from the upper edge of the head. The bow has a rectangular section with tapering sides which terminate in a forward-facing circular foot-knop. The remains of a worn catchplate project from the reverse of the lower bow. The lower plate is slightly narrower than the upper and a small rectangular cut out for the pin is present at the folded end. The remains of a bar are retained within the plates, terminating in worn breaks to either end. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 20.52mm long, 19.12mm wide, and weighs 4.6g.

An incomplete copper-alloy button of Medieval to Post Medieval date (c. AD 1400-1700). The button is discoidal and flat. There is a central moulded relief decoration in the form of a cinquefoil with a central raised pellet. The petals of the cinquefoil are blue enamelled, and the quadrants between each petal are enamelled with red. The back is plain and there is a central raised boss, which is likely the broken remains of a shank or loop. See YORYM-79EC41 for a similar example. The button is 13.1mm in diameter, 1.6mm thick and weighs 1.2g.
