An incomplete copper alloy Aucissa brooch dated to the Roman period, c. AD 43-80. Mackreth 2011, Aucissa Type 2.b, Plate 90, no.8687. The head of the brooch is formed from a flat, rectangular panel which splits into two at the back and rolls up and round to form the integral hinge which would have held the pin mechanism. The axis bar, pin and pin mechanism are all lost. A Post Medieval gilded copper alloy token or Gaming counter in the style of a George III (AD 1760-1820) half guinea , dating to AD 1790. Dimensions: 19.8mm in diameter, weight: 2.72g. These coin-like gaming pieces were made in imitation of gold guineas and half guineas of George III's 'spade' type issued between 1787 and 1799. An incomplete and slightly unusual copper alloy Roman Colchester Polden Hill brooch of Mackreth 2011, CD PH 9.d. Plate 54 no. 1649, dating to AD 50-70. Most of the bow is missing. The head of the brooch survives. Approximately one half of the object has a rectangular cross-section, tapering from the centre towards blunt point. The object has a mottled dark green patina . Plain copper alloy awls are hard to date precisely but examples of this form are thought to have been introduced in the Bronze Age, and continued in use as leather and wood working tools up to the Medieval period. Overall length 30.97 mm, width at centre 4.70 mm and weight 2.9g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy bow brooch. A devolved trumpet type (group B). At the head are two short wings housing the axis bar for the hinged pin. The expanded head of the pin is still present. At the top of the head is the remains of an integral chain loop with a circular hole. The head is a stylised trumpet shape and tapers into the D sectioned upper part of the bow. Part of a copper-alloy late medieval to post-medieval purse frame. It consists of a strip of metal folded into a u-shape, with a small circular hole piercing one side. One face is decorated with incised lettering some of which is filled with niello. There is a rough break across either end. Without the purse bar these fragments of frame are difficult to date more precisely than mid-15th to early 17th century (see Williams 2018, 11).
