Copper alloy 4 maravedis resellado, which means resealed or restruck, of Philip IV (1621-1665), of Spain, countermarked with crowned IIII and another IIII on the reverse while the obverse has the date of 1659 and the number VI . So the coin, which was probably orginally an 8 maravedis of Philip III of Spain, was revalued first to 6 maravedis in 1659, as it wore down, and then to 4 maravedis, during the reign of Philip IV. Cf. Cayon, p.625, nos.5216-5225.

Fragment of a cast copper alloy ingot which would have originally been circular in plan and plano-convex in profile. This fragment is square in plan, triangular in profile, and rectangular in section, as it comes from one edge of the original ingot. Plano-convex ingots like this one were used during the Late Bronze Age, c.1150-700 BC. The surface of the ingot is pitted where air bubbles formed during the casting process. There are dark green and coppery brown areas and light green patches of bronze disease. Similar ingot fragments have been found in metalworkers' hoards in Cornwall da…

Copper 24 deniers or double sols of Louis XV (1715-1774) of France referred to as a French colonial 'stampee', used in the West Indies, with a large crowned 'C' stamped on the obverse, but a blank reverse. The first coinage of stampees used worn, old coins. This second major coinage employed newly minted planchets, thus the coin is not a 'reformation' nor a traditional counterstamp. In 1763 the first stampee, or sol tampĂ©, of 24 deniers was authorized. This was a small copper disk stamped on the obverse with a crowned C (for Colonies) and a blank reverse. From dates on the undertypes…

There is also mention in the deaths registers of the early 18th century of Cossens on the island of St Mary's in the Isles of Scilly.
