Roman Crambeck mortarium dating from the 4th century AD. The sherd consists of part of the rim, angled shoulder and body from a wall sided mortaria with double flanged rim. The from itself dates to the 4th century but the fabric (Hard with creamy colour) identifies it as Crambeck Parchment ware that may have once been painted, which dates the vessel to 360 plus.

Pottery Rimsherd. Pale sandy grey fabric; Greyware. The markedly flared rim of a wide bowl of estimated diameter 310mm. Though perhaps resembling a mortarium in its form, there is no trace of internal grit. Suggested date: Roman, 100-300. Sandra Firth kindly examined this sherd. Length: 97mm, Weight: 71.33gms.

A rim sherd of a Roman New Forest Ware globular beaker (c. AD 320-c. 350). The sherd comprises part of the rim and shoulder of the vessel. The Fine Ware fabric is greyish/off-white and is colour coated. Dividing the rim from the shoulder, there is an in incised line below is a single incised wavy line. All this decoration would have extended around the vessel circumferentially. The break are old and abraded as a result of being in the mobile environment of the inter-tidal zone. 44.5 x 39.0 x 5.8mm. A rim sherd of a Hampshire Grog-tempered Roman vessel (c. AD 270-c. 410). The everted rim is from a jar and the fabric is an orange buff colour, densely tempered with off-white and mid-brown grog. It is estimated that, when complete, the outer diameter of the rim would have been about 20.0cm. Dr Malcolm Lyne, Roman ceramics specialist, has commented that this type of jar dates c. 270-c. 410 and that Hampshire Grog-tempered ware is handmade and was probably produced on the Island as a successor to Vectis Ware. The breaks are old and abraded. 28.0 x 45.2mm. Weight: 17.02g.

A complete strap-handle from a coarse-ware ceramic jug or flagon of Roman date (c. AD 43-c. 100). At the top a small part of the rim is intact and at the base part of the body survives. The fabric is greyish buff and tempered with rounded flint and other unidentifiable material. The handle is convex on the inside and has a longitudinal groove on the outer face. It has a width of 26.0mm and a maximum thickness of 13.2mm. Close to the handle, the body has a thickness of 4.7mm. This handle, in two parts, was found close together and join together. An incomplete post-Medieval ceramic skillet (c. 1550-c. 1700). This shallow vessel has a complete solid handle, circular in cross-section, with a circular button-like terminal. Flanked on either side of the handle, where it joins the body of the vessel, there is a thumb or finger impression. The inner olive green glazed face has a rectangular depression in line with the handle. The fabric has a high sand content and is yellowish red (Munsell Color: 5YR 5/6). The find was located in the inter-tidal zone, close to HWM and all the breaks are abraded. 138.0 x 95.0mm. 290.83g.

A Samian Ware rim sherd of Roman date (c. AD 100-150). The thin-walled sherd is irregular in plan and has five sides, including the rim which is beaded. It is attributed to the Central Gaulish workshops of the first half of the 2nd century AD. There is a dark reddish orange slip on both the internal and external surface which is poorly preserved. This sherd can probably be classified as a Dragendorff form 18/31R (Webster 1996, 32-33).
