The sherd is a fragment of a rim. The rim is quite angular in profile. Just below the rim there is, on the break, an incomplete hole. The identification of strainer is, perhaps, optomistic, as that is the only hole visible on the sherd. The interior and exterior surfaces of the sherd have patches of a mottled yello/green glaze. The fabric has a is a mottled pale oragne/light grey colour. The fabric is quite dusty, with occassional rounded white quartz-like and red inclusions. The glaze and shape suggests a Medieval date.
