A complete Post Medieval cast pewter or tin alloy screw cap, c.AD 1700-1800.
This object is the cap of a small bottle, which would have screwed into place. It is shaped like a crown with a central point that may have ended in a cross, but has since broken below the tip. The small and precise decoration was made as part of the casting mould, which suggests a later Post-Medieval date.
This cap is the right sizeand shape for a perfume or snuff bottle, popular during this period.
