A probably Modern copy of a Post Medieval silver coin; a shilling of Edward IV, third period (AD 1550 - 1553). Only about a third of the coin survives. Where is is broken, two layers of metal can be seen, suggesting the coin was made in two parts. The silver on the face of the coin is also laminating in places, perhaps suggesting it is a plated copy. The field of the coin is also textured, often a sign of a copy. The coin is imitating a fine silver shilling. Compare North number 1937 on page 123 of Volume II. The coin is 30.6mm long, 18.7mm wide and 1.1mm thick. 2.6g.
