The obverse shows a pattern that was originally based on a stylised head (possibly of Apollo), although the design has 'devolved' into something more abstract. A worn and corroded base silver Roman radiate, possibly an irregular copy or mule combining an obverse of Trebonianus Gallus (AD 251-253) and a reverse of Gordian III (AD 238-244), dating to the period c.AD 251-253 (Reece period 12).
