Gemstone and copper alloy seal matrix fragment. A flat oval stone retaining no incised detail whatsoever, with a bevelled edge behind, clasped within a pressed metal frame with billeted sides of thickness 0.6mm. The stone is blood-red on what is taken as its display face, but yellow with red streaks behind. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1850-1900. Length: 18.6mm, Width: 14.9mm, Weight: 2.33gms

A incomplete Roman oval cornelian intaglio, probably dating 1st to the 2nd century AD. The opposite side is smooth. The intaglio is decorated with an engraved cockerel left, head right. A Roman oval cornelian intaglio, probably dating 1st to the 2nd century AD. This intaglio is Henig Series A. The colour of the gemstone is an even orange. The intaglio is oval in plan and conforms to Henig's Flat Shape I, the upper (engraved) surface is longer than the lower (smooth) surface, so the sides are angled outwards. Roman intaglio in dark blue nicolo glass bearing the motif of a dolphin, AD.43-410. See NARC-E77EF0 for a similar design in a different stone. The stone is oval cut in shape with a bevelled edge on the obverse side. The raised central section is blue-grey in colour and has a dolphin incised into it, this has a tripointed tail and a long body with some incision to suggest fins. The rest of the stone is a blue in colour. The reverse is faceted where it has been ground into shape.

A large gold pendant with a cabochon gemstone setting. The pendant comprises a gold sheet back-plate to which has been soldered a tri-partite frame, the two outermost elements consisting of strands of twisted beaded gold wire and the innermost an upright gold strip, which clasps the gemstone setting. A small red gem set in a copper alloy base. The gem is possibly a semi-precious stone or glass, being almost circular in plan, and slightly conical in profile with a flat, faceted top. It is held in place on the base by four tangs with rounded ends. The underside of the base also has four bent tangs which are triangular and less rounded. It is probably a component of a larger piece of jewellery such as a brooch. The mount and shape of the stone seem to be Post medieval in form, but it is impossible to date with any certainty. The length is 5mm, the width is 5mm and the weight 0.15g.

Mid blue glass bead. A globular bead probably moulded in semi-translucent glass with a stringing hole of diameter 3.5mm and with faint turning or finishing lines on its outer surface. Beads of various pale and sky blue tints were especially favoured in the Victorian period to decorate lace bobbins. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1850-1900. Complete Roman carved red stone, possibly carnelian, intaglio of a hound chasing a hare, AD.43-410. The stone has been cut into an oval shape and is bevelled the obverse side being wider than the reverse. The stone is red with some black impurities running through in bands or flecks. The image has a hare running left with a Hound in pursuit on the right. There is a branch in leaf that curves from the right of the image round the top of it. An incomplete gem bead of probable Modern date, about AD 1900 - 1950. Probably less than half of the bead survives. It is sub-spherical with a pronounced ridge across the complete end. The circular drilled perforation (c.1.5mm diameter) is in the centre of this ridge, and is also visible in the broken face. The bead is made of a bright royal blue material and the surface is decorated with flecks of a gold coloured material and mottled with lighter blue dots. It is thought to be lapis lazuli. Roman intaglio. Oval carnelian with flat upper face and bevelled edges on the reverse, with a thin rectangular-sectioned gold band around the edge. The upper face is engraved with a naked male standing figure facing left holding stems of corn in his left hand, and an unidentified object is his right, with drapery falling from his left arm. Pale rose tinted flint with cloudy cortex opatches possible knife. Oval flake with angled invasive working across its dorsal side and faint ripples on the ventral. A curved edge bears tiny serrations produced by very short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect. Patina on the flat edge opposite may suggest the serrated edge was the working part of the tool, with the flat part opposite enabling pressure to be exerted on it. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC. Length: 19.9mm, Width: 15.1mm, Thickness: 2.0mm, Weight: 0.82gms.

A small amber bead dating to the Bronze Age, (2350-801BC). The object is circular in plan and sub-oval in cross-section. It is of varying thickness with a rough thickness. The object has a conical perforation which has been drilled from one side. The perforation has an internal diameter of 3.27mm on one face which tapers down to 1.99mm on the opposite face. The surface is rough and uneven. It is light orange-yellow in colour due to oxidation. This piece of amber would have originated in Poland.
