There are two stumps from an integrally cast suspension loop on the top edge. The reverse is blank.

A Medieval incomplete fragment of a lead-alloy circular seal matrix dating to c.1200-1400. Approximately half of the circular, flat seal remains. The central motif appears to be a petalled cross, with a circular scribed line separating the totally illegible inscription. The reverse is plain with the remains of a transverse raised fillet. Diameter 29.9mm, thickness 5.5mm, weight 10.3g. Similar examples on this database at KENT-374D77, PUBLIC-47ADB9 and KENT-9C13E2.

A complete Medieval non-heraldic personal lead seal matrix, dating to AD 1200 - 1400. The seal is a pointed oval or vessica shape it is decorated with a raised vertical line with an integral loop set close to the upper end on the reverse. The die face bears a cross design. A lead alloy seal matrix. It is of basically a conical shape although the sides curve slightly along the length. The sides are very unevenly manufactured and it appears to have been cut out of a piece of lead, rather than cast, as cut/knife marks on the side suggest. On the face there is incised a cross with perpendicular lines at each end of the arms, in the manner of a cross of Jerusalem. On the top edge is a crude suspension loop. The face on the opposite side has an engraved motif at the centre depicting a fleur-de-lis. Surrounding this is a legend reading ‘+[…]EVS CIEATED[…]’. The seal measures 33.8mm long, 23.9mm wide, 4.4mm thick (7.6mm including the attachment loop) and weighs 17.8 grams.
