A clipped imitation of a medieval gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377). The obverse shows annulets on the cusps of the tressure and a lis in the centre of the reverse suggesting the prototype was a quarter noble of Edward III's Treaty Period, the annulets seen in the 'Transitional Series' of 1361-3 (North 1224), the lis seen in the Treaty Series of 1363-9 (North 1243-4).
