Gold possible coin. A small plano-convex disc, thickest on one side, featureless and worn on its convex side but retaining part of an image on the flat side, which looks like a small seated figure with right hand raised. Andrew Brown kindly comments that the object should probably be regarded as a late Iron Age quarter stater, issue of Haselgrove Period 2 phase 4 or later, 80BC-20BC. Complete gold engraved finger ring dating for the late 16th century. The exterior is engraved with a pattern of alternating four- and five-petalled pansy-like flowers and leafy sprigs, the interior is plain. There is no evidence of a maker’s mark. There is no bezel and the band is flat in cross-section. The ring has been bent out of shape into a rough D-shape. A complete gold finger ring (signet) of post-medieval date (c.1550-1625). Description: The hoop of the ring is D-shped in cross-section and widens at the shoulders to meet a flat, oval bezel. The bezel is engraved with a heraldic griffin rampant within a single-lined border. A second, corded border surrounds this. The hoop is thin, and splits at both sides of the bezel into outward-facing spiral shoulders which are partly attached to the sides of the bezel. The collet-style (or 'pie-dish') bezel is irregular but roughly drop-shaped, and widens out on its lower half to a serrated rim, probably intended to resemble filigree wire. A gold and gem finger ring of Medieval date, about AD 1150 - 1500, but most likely to be AD 1200 - 1300. It is a stirrup shaped ring, of angular D shaped cross-section on the hoop, with the sides rising up to a narrow upright bezel which is triangular in profile.
