Detached circular gold and garnet setting. The object has a gold backplate to which is soldered three concentric beaded wires; the outer and inner are very finely beaded and the central wire has larger beads. This is a common arrangement for Anglo-Saxon filigree. Within the innermost beaded ring is a plain collar which rises up the sides and slightly over the top of a circular garnet. A gold jewellery fitting of Post-Medieval date, 16th-17th century. Dora Thornton of the British Museum writes: 'The main body of the artefact is made of thin gold wire, each end recurving on itself to create a loop and the form is of a long bodied s-shape. Attached at one of these looped ends are a further two gold wire loops (so forming a chain link). Treasure case: 2006 T413 gold circular fitting This broad flat band has no bevelling or shaping at the edges which one would normally expect in a finger ring, suggesting that it is more likely to be a fitting of some kind. In the absence of any other diagnostic features such as decoration or inscription, there is no evidence to date this object pre-1706 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

Medieval gold jewellery fitting from a composite piece of jewellery. A gold disc back-plate, the reverse flat with a central integral rivet surrounded by file marks, with a gold setting on the front formed from four cusped sides which rise to form a rectangular collet. A gold fragment of an artefact of an undiagnostic date. It is in the form of a penannular wire loop which appears to have been hammered to shape and may have originally been circular but has been crushed and appears to have been deliberately cut at both ends. It seems likely that it is a jewellery fragment and could be a crushed ring fragment or off an ear ring. It is possibly Roman as it was found adjacent to an amount of silver denarii and Roman pottery. A fragment of an item of jewellery of composite construction. It comprises an irregularly shaped pale gold collet containing a dark blue cabochon stone. Around the stone is a frame of pale gold sheet metal set into a hollow dished "bezel", itself filled with a dark substance (?niello), all surrounded by a beaded border. Enamelled roundel, with a gold backplate and a gold outer wall which is very perfectly and neatly soldered on, but at one point now torn and distorted. Extremely slender internal cell walls of gold pick out a human figure from the waist up, holding out the left arm and with a further curving wall perhaps depicting the right arm.
