A fragment of twisted gold wire of uncertain date and function, most likely part of an earring or other item of jewellery. The wire originally had a square cross section and has been twisted along most of its length and bent into an S-shape. There is a short section of around 10mm on the outside of the larger bend which appears not to have been twisted; this may be an original feature relating to the function of the object, perhaps suggestive of a suspension loop.

A small fragment of gold, dished and decorated on the outside of the curve, possibly broken from some kind of vessel. The decoration appears to be a plant design, of probable late medieval date. The inner side is undecorated. The exact character of the object is uncertain. There is no reason to doubt that this object meets the 10% threshold required by the Treasure Act, or that it is more than 300 years old. As such it therefore qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the Act.

Treasure case : 2007 T178 A metal object of unusual form, consisting of a central cylinder, which is hollow, though sealed at both ends. Each end is decorated with a band of cabling or rope-work. Entwined around the cylinder is a knot of twisted wires contained within a cabled border. The object is gold, but of indeterminate date. Dimensions: length 17 mm, width 14 mm. A fragment of a gold unidentified object of unknown date. It measures 14.70x9.73x4.27mm and weighs 5.54g. The fragment is broken at either short end, the thinner of which looks a little bent and is sharper, as though it has been cut. The wider end is smoother. In cross section these ends are rectangular with rounded edges and measure 9.43x4.27mm and 9.73x1.66m. The long edges are slightly chamfered on either face. In profile, the fragment is triangular in shape.
