Gold, copper alloy, glass and iron compass, as identified by the finder. A circular copper alloy case with bevelled glass lid retains a white dial plate bearing two discernible cardinal points and a rusted needle; water has infiltrated and is retained by the case. The case is set within a plain annular concavo-convex frame with opposed collared seats for attachment to a fob. Stamps on the outer side include an anchor for the Birmingham assay office. The full stamped legend reads: J.T.J [9] .375 [anchor] G, the lower case letter G is probably a mark for 1906. Suggested date: Modern, 19…
