Gold, Post Medieval, Half Guinea of William III (AD 1694 - AD 1702) dating to the year 1695. The obverse shows the laureate head of the king facing right and reads GVLIELMVS III DEI GRA. The reverse shows four shields at the four cardinal points, with an undecorated sceptre in each quarter and a lion rampant (Lion of Nassau?) in the centre. The legend reads MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX 1695. Mint: London. Spink No 3466, page 343. Coin has been bent - probably damaged whilst in the plough soil.
