An incomplete gold biconical bead of probable early medieval date. The bead comprises a single length of plain wire coiled into about 10 turns to form the body of the bead. The wire has a raised central rib creating a distinct stepped profile to the bead on the outside and is flattened on the inside. The lower end, which would have formed the centre of the bead, terminates in a rough break. The wire at the complete upper end is neatly tapered and smoothed down.
