A 'fob' seal matrix consisting of a thin (2mm) carved brown and clear oval gemstone in a gold frame, attached to an enamelled gold swivel mount. The gemstone depicts a winged cherub in profile, facing to the viewer's right, with drapery trailing from his shoulders. In his outstretched right hand he holds a thin, twisted item, possibly a rope or the mouthpiece to a musical instrument. A post-medeival (Georgian c. 1714-1850) complete gold fob seal with intact intaglio style seal matrix. The fob has a golden handle consisting of a round suspension loop with three tiny pelets at the top and sides and attaching to the top of an openwork frame. The suspension loop attaches to the frame via a small oval join consisting of three concentric wideing ribs. Below this is an openwork frame consisting of two long curled arms which curl down eaither side to meet the oval ribbed base for the seal matrix.
