A squashed gold ring of uncertain function and without hall or maker's mark.
Description: The object is a thin gold band of uncertain function. The looped object has been squashed but otherwise shows little depositional damage. There is no hall or maker's mark visible. The object is a dull gold, suggesting a lower carat.
Measurements: Length: 30 mm; Width: 16 mm: Thickness: 1.48 mm and Weight: 2.81 g.
Discussion: The object does not resemble a finger ring, nor another object type that can be confidently stated. In addition, the object appears to be Post-Medieval to Modern in…

Gold ornamental ring from Alcester, Warwickshire. This ring in the form of a thin flat band is decorated with a repeat punched geometric pattern. It has no parallels with any finger-ring in the British Museum collections and may be a decorative fitting of some kind. It is unlikely to be more than 300 years old and therefore it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

Gold ring of a yellow hue possibly Medieval 11th to 15th century AD. It is unlikely to be jewellery related and more likely to relate to the decoration of another object perhaps a dagger pommel ring. The ring cannot be securely dated and so has been classified as not treasure. The length is 28mm and the width 11mm.

A ring of gold filigree comprising three strands of gold beaded wire, the central strand being thicker than those flanking it, forming a D-shaped section. The ring is squashed together at one end, the rest rather bent. One of the beaded strands is bent outwards and detached at one point. The whole ring is exceptionally worn, so that the central strand of beaded wire in particular appears plain where the definition between individual beads on the strands has been lost.

A complete gold wire ring of probable early medieval date. The ring is made from a single piece of gold wire, circular in section, which has been bent into an annular shape. Each terminal is secured to the other by twisting the end of the wire around the opposing section; five loops on one side and four on the other. The hoop is decorated in three sections spaced equidistantly, each section comprising incised lines giving a ribbed effect. The number of ribs is not standard, with (as viewed) the left section having 16 ribs, the right section having 14 ribs, and the lower section having …

Description: A gold Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) ring, dating to AD 500-750. It consists of an octagonal cross-sectioned wire, which has been bent into a loop with either end wrapped twice around the other to secure it. It survives in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Diameter: 13.38 mm, thickness: 2.18mm, weight: 1.15g
Discussion: Small rings of this form appear in both Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Scandinavian contexts and appear to have served a variety of purposes, although they are more typically made from copper alloy or sometimes silver (e.g. MacGregor and Bolick 1993, 261-2, nos…

Description: Gold ring or oval loop, now squashed flat in the centre, but probably originally roughly circular. Each end has a slightly concave exterior, but the rest of the hoop is rectangular in cross-section. The top and bottom faces of the hoop have fine oblique scratches, probably from finishing with a file; the interior also has less tidy longitudinal striations. The exterior has an irregular central line of scattered indentations, probably peck marks, running along either main face; one edge has two cut marks and two possible peck marks, and the oth…

A complete facetted gold ring of probable Early Medieval date.
The circular gold ring is of hexagonal cross-section; with a lozenge cross-section with champfered external edges. The ring is slightly mis-shapen with some surface scratches. The metal surface is a bright yellow gold.
Measurements: external diameter: 20.65mm; width of band:1.76mm; thickness of band: 1.75 and weight: 2.04g.
The internal angle makes it unclear if this ring was worn as a finger ring. It is possibly a linking component of a composite object or suite of fittings, but there are no o…

A neatly-worked plain circular solid gold ring of hexagonal cross-section. The inner lightly-convex face bears a distinct wear-shine. There is only slight damage on the other faces.
This massive ring looks as though it may have formed the linking component of a composite object or suite of fittings. However, it is insufficiently diagnostic in appearance to assign either a specific function or a cultural affiliation.
Date: Uncertain, probably ancient.
Dimensions: external diameter 30.3 - 31.3 mm; internal diameter 21.2 - 21.4 mm.

A gold band with a narrow tang/fastening hook at one end and blunt rounded terminal at one end (with a roughly pierced hole to receive the fastening hook). Both sides of the ornament are folded over to create an overall [ shape (similar to other objects of this date and style, cf. the Binstead 'rings', discussed below). The object has been distorted and crumpled. It is not clear whether the damage occurred before or after deposition, but the latter is probable given the lack of clear or intentional breakage.
Dimensions:
In its current state the object has dimensions of 30mm …

A probably Late Bronze Age (1100-750 BC) gold ring of hexagonal cross-section, with flat internal and external faces, the faces to either side being angled. There is little sign of wear, except for some light scratches. The inside face features a slightly off-centre internal join at one point, suggesting having been made in a mould. The angled face above this has a slight fracture in the surface.
It is likely this ring might have been a linking component of a composite object or suite of fittings. However, it is insufficiently diagnostic in appearance to assign a specific function.

The find comprises a loop of thick gold wire of roughly circular cross-section, the ends overlapping. Onto this are threaded nine rings, seven of which are of the type known as composite; two are simple rings. One of the latter (i) is a loop of gold wire with overlapping ends; the wire tapers from one end to the other. The other (ii) is a penannular ring of round-sectioned wire, the terminals close together. Of the composites:
(iii) is a triple ring of three lightly C-sectioned strips probably soldered together. The terminals of one meet; the other two display a narrow gap.
(iv) is a…

A probably Late Bronze Age (1100-750 BC) solid gold ring of hexagonal cross-section, with flat upper and lower faces, and the internal and external faces to either side being angled. Two areas opposite each other display some wear gloss on the inner surfaces. The outer faces have fairly uniform lack of wear, but do have some scratches. It is 28.4mm external diameter, 20.5mm internal diameter, 4mm thick and weighs 13.2g.
