A gold pendant with settings for stones and the reverse has cells, some of which contain enamel, probably 16th century in date. Dr Dora Thornton of the British Museum writes: 'The pendant consists of a dart-shaped stem springing from a trefoil arrangement of two circular lateral lobes above a central, lozenge-shaped terminal. There is a suspension loop at the top with a small gold disc to strengthen the join to the stem on either side, and there is a small ring soldered to each of the lobes for sub-pendants, which are missing. The pendant is bifacial with four empty collets of gold…

Post-medieval bell shaped pendant, flattened. The body of the pendant is made of sheet gold. The ends of the sheet have been soldered together to make a cylindrical/ cone shape that tapers. The seam of this join has been accentuated by the placement of a gold wire that runs from the scalloped base to the end of the pedant body. The border around the circumference of the base is scalloped with a sub triangular protrusion in between each scallop. Within each scallop is a circular perforation (eight in total). Above this, around the circumference one above the other, are the following: a…

Sheet gold element, the sheet joined to form a cylindrical hollow form with projecting lobes, separated by engraved grooves, then twisted. A suspension loop added at one end; the remains of a similar loop at the other. The surface has been carefully tooled and worked and may show keying for enamelled decoration, now missing. The object is made from very high carat gold but is very hard to interpret. The large rather crude loop is unusual for a piece of jewellery but the object was clearly designed to be hung and if there was a second loop at the other end it might have formed a cha…

The centre is formed of a square foil collet set set upon a base of spiral-coiled gold wire and set with a stone, probably a rock crystal. Around this were originally four similar rectangular collets set with what are probably garnets, forming a cross shape. A small gold sphere decorated with a single band of gold wire around the circumference. This has a line of arches of gold wire on both sides extending approximately halfway up each hemisphere. Above these arches are multiple small pellets covering the top and bottom of the sphere. At the top is a small loop formed from gold wire with a piece of bent gold wire through it, possibly the start of a chain or larger loop to enable the object to be attached to a chain. Bears some resemblance to Tudor dress pins but the fitting/ attachment loop suggests it might be a decorative dress accessory.

The object takes the form of an openwork sexfoil with six lobes projecting outwards from a central fitting. The mounted stone appears to be a replacement, as the upper rivet hole is left empty, and the stone obscures the detail of the openwork front and back. The pendant is decorated on the front and back. When viewed from one side, the central mounted stone is comprised of an elongated hexagonally cut sapphire encased in a gold rub-over setting. This appears to be held in place by a single rivet, secured at the rear. Projecting from each edge of the central setting is a table cut …

19th century gold spherical bead pendant This pendant is formed of a hollow spherical bead with a triple thread of twisted wire round the centre and lozenges of granulation applied in two rows above and below the twisted wire. The pendant loop is formed of a tube for a chain to pass through, the openings edged with applied wire. The regular placing of the grain work decoration and the form of the pendant loop suggests a date in the 19th century. There is no evidence to date this object pre 1705.
