Gold finger-ring, much damaged. The hoop is very narrow at the foot and widens to triangular indented shoulders. One side of the hoop has been torn away and folded back from the box setting, which is broadly ovoid in shape but faceted. Although some whitish adhesive remains in the setting, the original setting is now missing. Date: probably Roman, but the hoop is rather thin in comparison with rings of this period.

A near complete, gold finger ring dating to the Late Roman Period c. AD 300-410. Description: Gold finger-ring, much distorted. The hoop consists of a rectangular sectioned strip of gold, to which has been soldered three strand of filigree which is now broken in a number of places. The filigree is beaded, but the beads are now very hard to distinguish, which is probably due to heavy wear. In the pair of channels between the filigree, a series of paired punched dots has been added as further decoration. In places, these dots have been punched close enough together that they run in…

The bezel comprises a circular box setting, now rather damaged and missing its original stone or glass setting, which has a pair of small gold spheres on each side where the bezel meets the shoulders. In addition to the damage to the bezel, the hoop is broken on one of the shoulders. There is a good parallel in the Thetford treasure, although the ring in question is composed of a beaded wire hoop and retains its setti…

Gold ring, the narrow hoop of D-shaped section now distorted. The exterior is very worn. Traces of engraved decoration remain: a schematic skull and a pattern of diagonal engraved bands which extend around the hoop. The interior is inscribed in lower case 'My beloved is christ MB Jan 96', expressing the idea of the unity of the couple in Christ, with the skull a constant reminder of death on the exterior. The date 96 appears to refer to 1696. Sometimes inscriptions are contracted and the interpretation not obvious. Others in this vein are 'In Christ and thee my comfort be' and 'May Ch…

The interior has been inscribed in lower case italic script: 'Heue 72 25' my happeness' (Heaven is my happeness (sic)).
