A gold composite object, possibly a cap hook, consisting of a domed central 'head' which only partially protrudes from the bowl of a shallow, dish-like base. The underside of the base is a thin, plain gold sheet and is damaged; a small sliver, maybe one sixteenth of the total area of the base, is missing. The underside of the base bulges outward, in the opposite direction to the head. The object is circular in plan and from this perspective the circumference is decorated with a ropework gold filigree design.
