"A gold amulet case - a simple cylindrical tube with three suspension loops. Dimensions and metal content: Length: 25mm; diameter: 6mm, height (tube plus loops): 11mm; weight: 4.38g. Treasure case 2019 T863: Report by Richard Hobbs, Weston Curator of Roman Britain, The British Museum 16 January 2020 Roman gold amulet case in the form of a cylindrical piece of sheet metal decorated with pairs of moulded and notched ribs that run across the surface. The preserved terminal consists of a recessed circular button with rolled over edges, likely to have contained a piece of cut glass or stone (now missing). Description: A late Roman gold amulet case dating to circa AD 200-400. The object is formed from sheet metal rolled to form a cylindrical tube with two suspension loops. The tube is closed at both ends. The two suspension loops are formed from sheet metal that has been rolled to form a circular loop. The sheet metal for the loops has vertical moulded ribs.
