A gold quarter stater of Addedomaros, leader of the Trinovantes tribe.
Obv: flower (Hobbs type f) with pellets at tip of leaves.
Rev: horse advancing right. Linear pattern in upper field (c.f. BMC 2420). Pellet-in-ring in front.
Adeddomaros gained the throne between BC 20-15, and was succeeded by his son, Dubnovellaunus, sometime between BC 10-5. Their centre of government was Camolodunum (Colchester). Frequent wars with the Catuvellauni may have erupted because the Catuvellauni leader Tasciovanus claimed he was the true heir to the throne.
