Description: A cut fragment of a Visitgothic imitation of a gold Roman solidus of Valentinian III (AD 425–455), dating to c. AD 439–455 (Reece Period 22). VICTORI-A AVGGG reverse type depicting Emperor standing facing holding long cross and Victory on globe; right foot on human-headed coiled serpent. Mint of Ravenna. Probably as RIC X, p. 454, nos. 3715–8. The annulet above the head and the extended tongues of the letter G on the reverse are indicative of a Visigothic product.

A gold contemporary copy of a gold Roman tremissis of Honorius (AD 393-423) or Theodosius II (AD 402-450), dating to the period AD 408-450 (Reece Period 22-23). Probably VICTORIA AVGVSTORVM reverse type, depicting Victory advancing to front, head left, holding wreath and cross on globe. Copying mint of Constantinople. cf RIC X 212 or 213.
