A complete gold finger ring (Posy) of medieval date (c.1300-1500). Description: The ring is sub-rectangular in cross-section, having a flat interior and slightly concave exterior. The exterior surface is decorated with engraved sprigs of foliage and five-petalled flowers separating a black letter inscription which reads 'a ma vye'. This translates from French to 'to my life'. A gold finger-ring of unknown date. The finger-ring weighs 2.25g, has a circular hoop and rectangular cross-section. The external diameter is 18.3mm and the thickness of the band varies from 1.3mm to 0.7mm. The width of the band varies between 2.7mm and 4.3mm. The edges of the band are not straight and parallel to each other nor do they seem to have been shaped with any intentional form in mind, suggestive that a scrap strip of metal was formed into a continuous hoop without attempt to neaten the sides. A gold and copper alloy finger ring dating from 1829. This is a mourning ring, inscribed on the outer face in gothic script: "IN MEMORY OF" and on the inner face in italic lettering "B E Coates Ob' 9 Feb' 1829 a' 48". The outer face is also decorated with two bands of floral and foliate decoration in relief, one each side of the central recessed and inscribed area. One of these is a 'clean' cut so that the profile of the cross-section of the sheet is clearly visible, while the other is squashed and jagged.
