One of a pair of gold coins of uncertain date. The coins are gold and appear to have been cast. They are mostly identical, possibly having come from a mould. One side of the coins depicts a semi circular band with nine curvilinear lines radiating from it. The other side depicts an unclear zooamorphic figure. It has not been possible find a parallel for the coins and there has been a suggestion that they could be forgeries, though whether contemporary ones it is not possible to say. Another suggestion has been that they are of modern Indian origin. The other coin is recorded as: KEN…

Fragment B is also sub-rectangular and has been clearly folded at least four times. The longer edge is original, as appears to be the outer edge, indicating that this was once a flat, rectangular sheet. The surface is difficult to see owing to the poor state of preservation, but it appears to have had some kind of pressed decoration. In some ways this item resembles Roman lamella.

A worn and melted gold disc, probably a Gallo-Belgic A stater. Dimensions: Thickness: 1.9mm; Diameter: 24.2mm; Weight 7.60g Discussion: This item was submitted for consideration as potential Treasure because it was found very close to a previously recorded Roman gold aureus of Trajan (BH-80B838). However, given that the coin is likely to be a Gallo-Belgic A stater dating to the 2nd Century BC, the proximity of its findspot to the gold aureus is thought to be coincidental rather than representational of a group of coins lost at the same time. It therefore falls outside the criter…
