Gold quarter stater, some wear, and abrasion on the obverse, Hobbs 1638. This type is not recorded in Van Arsdell; there are five in the BM including that illustrated in Hobbs all from Essendon, Herts and another six on the Celtic Coin Index (CCI 930963, 941350, 980498 from Watford, Tring and Bishops Stortford; 962670, 971014, 980125 unlocated). The type is related to Whaddon Chase and Tasciovanus types, distribution so far is Hertforshire (but Bishops Stortford eg noted as possibly from Essex, so this example is the most easterly so far but within the Catuvellauni/Trinovantes area.

A parallel-sided thin gold band with plain back broken at both ends. The decorated face comprises three milled ribs flanked by plain raised rims. Neither the function of nor any close parallel for the object has been identified. The cast-in decoration implies a recent date which is neither confirmed nor rejected by the metal composition. A complete and misshapen gold posy finger ring of early eighteenth century date. Length: 23.5mm, width: 12.0mm. Weight 1.27g. Treasure case no. 2007 T244 (disclaimed). The ring is inscribed on the inside of the D-section hoop "I cannot show the love I O". This is followed by a stamped maker's mark in a rectangular punch of the letters PE in Roman capitals. This inscription appears on a ring in the British Museum's collections. It is listed in Joan Evans "English Posies and Posy Rings" (1931). The maker's mark appears to be that of William Pearson, who registered as a smallworker in 1704.

A Medieval gold posy finger-ring fashioned into the shape of a garter. The external surface is inscribed in black lettering with the words + tout + pur + le + meus + which is likely to mean all for the better A gold ring in the British Museum collection (Dalton 977) carries a similar inscription (pur le meux). White enamel survives in the recesses of the "m" and the "u" in "meus". The buckle of the garter has been sheared off, but the fictive pin survives. A gold mourning ring dating from 1753. The ring's outside diameter is 21.6mm, the band's width is 3.3mm, its thickness is 2.1mm and it weighs 4.2g. The band is divided into five curvilinear scrolls, which contain a legend in gold, highlighted by black enamel. The legend reads WM BYSHOP OB:24 JULY.1753 AE:40, i.e. the ring commemorates a William Byshop who died on 24th July 1753, aged 40. The parish registers for Milborne Port record that a William Byshop married a Sara Hallet on 23rd October 1739 (Hugh Vincent, pers. comm.). Gold finger-ring of medieval date. A thin wire band is now separated from the lozenge-shaped bezel, where the remains of attachment can still be seen. The edges of the bezel are decorated with square beading. The stone is now missing. The base of the bezel is a centrally placed aperture, designed to provide contact between the stone and the wearer.

CORONER'S REPORT Description of Object A broken and distorted component of Roman gold jewellery, probably a necklace link. The fragment comprises a parallel-sided band, made from thin gold sheet, fractured at one end and with a double-eyed fastening loop at the complete end. Following breakage the fragment was bent back on itself, first the looped end then the broken end, the latter resulting in a partial tear.
