An early-medieval gold Merovingian tremissis, 'mint-and-moneyer' or 'National' series dating to c.AD580-660/70, mint: possibly Allassac [ATACIACO; cf. Belfort 1892 nos 422-3] (Correze, Fr), moneyer: 'Frateciselo' [FRATECLISELO]. Ref: de Belfort 1892: p.123.
The coin has a silvery appearance suggesting it belongs later in the series when gold content was declining, the metal often termed 'pale gold' with inceasing silver content. It may date more closely to c.AD640-60.
The named moneyer FRATECLISELO is not listed in de Belfort's 1982-5 catalogue.

Object type: RING
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Published
A probably Late Bronze Age (1100-750 BC) solid gold ring of hexagonal cross-section, with flat upper and lower faces, and the internal and external faces to either side being angled. Two areas opposite each other display some wear gloss on the inner surfaces. The outer faces have fairly uniform lack of wear, but do have some scratches. It is 28.4mm external diameter, 20.5mm internal diameter, 4mm thick and weighs 13.2g.
The internal angle makes it unlikely that this ring was worn as a finger ring. It is likely to have been a linking component of a composite object or suite of fit…

A fragment of gold foil that is folded and potentially once from a larger item of uncertain dating.
The undiagnostic fragment is formed from a flat piece of gold foil. It was potentially folded as plough damage rather than intentionally due to the way it is folded on an angle. There do not appear to be any visible marking on the object. The surfaces are smooth and of a yellow/gold colour. The metal has a slight ripple effect along one short edge.
Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find it cannot be securely dated to older than 300 years old and as such falls outside the…
