Gold finger-ring with circular collet, in the form of a quatrefoil, set with a turquoise cabochon. The narrow hoop of flattened D-section is decorated at the shoulders with foliar motifs and with inlaid dark blue enamel at the terminals. The collet can be compared with that of a ring from Newball, Lincolnshire, which was dated to the late 15th or early 16th century. (Treasure Annual Report 2003, 108, no. 194). It is also similar to a ring shown on the left hand of Thomas Cromwell in a portrait painted by Holbein in 1534-5 (Oman 1974, 96, plate 23 A). Late 15th - early 16th century. In…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A gold pendant of the Early Medieval period, late 7th to early 9th century date. The pendant is oval-shaped in plan, and sub-triangular in section. The backing is cut from a separate sheet of gold, and the setting is stepped, pressed from a sheet of gold. There is a twisted cable effect circumscribing two of the steppings, which may or may not be separate elements added to the pendant. In the centre is a circular apperture that would have taken a stone. The top of the pendant has a twisted strip of gold remaining, though incomplete, that would have formed the suspension loop. CORONER'S REPORT
Circumastance of discovery
Between April and September 2007, Nick Moon discovered fourteen Iron Age coins whilst searching on farmland with a metal-detector. The coins were found at the same site as three earlier groups (2003T7, 2005T18 and 2006T564) and should be considered as addenda to the earlier hoard.
Description of objects
All of the coins are early uninscribed gold 'quarter staters' of types associated with the Cantii, a people thought to have inhabited parts of modern Kent during the late Iron Age. All were produced…

Treasure Case 2009 T395: Early Medieval artefact - possibly a pendant
Object Date: late 6th to 7th century
Description: pendant (possibly)
Torn gold disc, missing large portions. Decorated with fine filigree in geometric arrangements centred around a round setting containing a small, cracked, amber setting.
Discussion: The original function of the object is unclear, but it is likely to be a pendant. There are no traces of an attachment loop, but a decorative filigree sling on the front is reminiscent of the type of ornament that often surrounds the loop attachment. The back …

Gold band with scroll-like frame holding in settings for 5 circular stones. The stones are glass. The central stone is a ruby red and is 6mm in diameter. the stones at each side of the central one are 4mm in diameter and are cloudy, but at one time would have ben clear to represent diamonds. the outer stones are 3mm in diameter. One is cloudy, but its opposite equivalent is clear, suggesting that it was replaced at some point and has not aged as much as the other three. A leaf-like design has been etched repeatedly around the outside of the band. An elongated 'kite' shape has been sou…
