Gold fragment of a strip raised into a lip on both of the edges of each face. The flanged end is flattened and has been sheared off with a blunt 'cold' chisel which has caused the end to expand. The other end of the fragment is broken and worn.
Treasure report written by Gillian Varndell: Roughly trapezoidal fragment of gold; the broader end is flattened and cut (or flattened and broken off) and there is a rough break at the opposite, narrower end. The long edges have slight flanges, more marked on one face; the 'flange' at the narrow edge is probably a result of breaking.

A gold probably 18th century posy finger ring. The ring has a D-shaped section with plain exterior. The outer edges of the D-shaped section appears to be chamfered, giving the section an almost trapezoidal shape. Part of the hoop is more worn than any other part of the finger ring, around one side of the outer edge. The interior has been inscribed in lower case italic script: "A token of my love", which is followed by a markers mark. A similar inscription is recorded by Joan Evans, English Posies and Posy-Rings (Oxford, 1931), p. 23, but an exact match could not be found. The makers ma…
