The finger ring has a plain oval loop, D-shaped in section (more angular near the bezel) with an oval bezel set within the arms of the hoop. A complete gold tie pin of Victorian date. The pin has a twisted shank which is now bent. The head of the pin is a snake's head with figure of eight coil behind, soldered to the pin shank. The snake has applied gold or silver studs as eyes and from its mouth hangs a heart, possibly of a copper-rich gold. The reverse of the heart in inlaid with a semi-transparent stone or galss insert. Description of find Tiny gold Roman finger ring, probably for a child. Damaged along the edges. Faceted band divided into nine oval segments, each with a median arris. At seven of the constrictions between segments are two transverse engraved lines, presumably missing from the other two due to wear. Additional Measurements Internal diameter 11.5mm, external diameter 15mm, Band width c. 4mm. Weighing 1.4g.

CURATOR'S REPORT Description of object Penannular gold ring of roughly circular section but with a flattened inner surface. The terminals are almost flat. There is no evidence of decorative bands of differing colours of gold. There is a transverse groove near one terminal, perhaps deliberate, which has exposed a copper alloy core. Late Bronze Age, c.1150 - c.750 BC. External diameter 16mm; Internal diameter 5.5mm; Weight 7.21g.

Gold fragment, probably of a late Roman finger ring. A lozengiform setting, now empty, with a border of gold pellets around the outer edge, with clusters of projecting pellets at intervals. The backplate has been cut to fit the projecting pellets, except where it extends slightly beyond the setting at one corner of the lozenge, which may have been part of the shoulder of the ring, and at the opposite corner, where the breaks are ragged. Treasure reported from Andrew Rogerson: Curving fragment of round-sectioned gold wire, both ends chopped and hammered flat on one side. A pair of transverse lines on one hammered facet may have been engraved to test the metal.
