A fragment of a gold finger ring of Medieval date. The fragment is broken at both ends and folded double. It is part of the hoop is a finger ring. The band is rectangular in section with an engraved inscription and decoration on the external face. The original width of the band was 4.5mm, and its thickness was 1.1mm. The surviving lettering is on the bent part of the ring and is very difficult to read. It is in gothic black letter script and may start with an "h" and end with an "r" but it is not certain. A medieval finger-ring, formed of a thin wire hoop and a deep bezel of irregular shape, fashioned to contain a trapezoidal stone. The stone is dark blue, probably a sapphire. For a similar find, see TAR 1997-1998, no.29, fig.20, pp. 14-15. The finger-ring is gold, and dates from the thirteenth century. Dimensions: diameter of hoop 20 mm, diameter including bezel 26 mm. An incomplete and misshapen Medieval gold finger-ring with a cell for a setting. The simple wire hoop is slender and circular in cross-section. It has a soldered cone-shaped bezel that held a setting which is missing. The rim of the cell is broken and incomplete.Treasure case no. 2011 T405. 23.9mm (length) x 12.6mm (width). Weight: 0.95g. The find contains a minimum of 10% gold and predates 1711. It thus qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of precious metal content and age.

A gold and gem set finger ring. The ring is bent out of shape. The hoop is narrow and flat, widening slightly at the shoulders. Late Medieval/early Post Medieval gold finger ring, 13mm in diameter, 2mm wide and 0.5mm thick. The ring is in good condition and weighs 0.62grams. The ring has four sub oval cartouches, one larger than the others, which are filled with three rows of raised dots. Between these are sub rectangular recesses with two small rectangular protrusions, one above the other, in its centre. These areas have been filled with white enamel, with most remaining in the small gap between the two rectangles. The inner surface is inscribed LOVE IN GOD.

Traces of dark transparent enamel survive in the engraved decoration on the shoulders. The stone was identified by Raman spectroscopy as garnet. Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of the ring indicated a gold content of 80-83%, a silver content of 12-15%, the remainder being copper. Incomplete gold ring. The hoop of the ring is circular in section with marginally broader shoulders that taper into the thin band. The ring has an integral bezel that is oval in plan and sub lozenge shape in section, in that it is slightly conical with the underneath being chamfered. The hoop, which is slightly bent, is of oval section. A very similar example was discovered at Newball, Lincoln (2003 T262). Dimensions: Diam: 19mm, L: 24mm, W: 8mm The object fulfils the Treasure Act (1996) in that it is more than 300 years old and has a precious metal content exceeding 10%.

Medieval gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377), Fourth Coinage, Series G, type a/d mule, 1356-1361 AD, North 1189/1190. North indicates that 1189/1190 are only know as mules with the obverse of type 1189 (with annulet stops) and reverse of 1190 (with saltire stops). The spelling mistake in the reverse legend was identified by R L Kenyon who lists this coin as Type 2 of the quarter nobles of 1351-60 (R L Kenyon, 1884, The Gold Coins of England). The obverse has been struck with a rusty die.

A miniature medieval brooch, circular in form, with a flat back and rounded front. The front is decorated with punches simulating granulation separated by incised criss-crosses. A miniature medieval brooch, circular in form, with a flat back and raised decoration on the front. This consists of four collets, made to accommodate stones, now lost, placed at equal distances at the top and bottom of the frame of the brooch. In the middle of the frame at each side is a semi-spherical moulding with punched decoration imitating granulation. The pin is intact and is secured by a rod within the frame of the brooch and a groove, which serves as a pin-rest. The brooch is gold and dates from the thirteenth or early fourteenth century.
