A Roman gold finger ring dating to c. AD 1-200. The find is much bent and distorted, with a circular hoop of circular cross-section and what appear to be a pair of opposed possible snake heads forming the bezel.

Description: An incomplete gold and silver alloy pendant with glass or stone setting and filigree decoration. The object is circular in plan and flat. A suspension loop with two longitudinal lines running down the middle has been soldered onto the upper edge and curves back on itself to attach to the back of the pendant. The edge of the pendant has a raised, twisted gold wire border. A complete gold mourning or memento mori finger ring of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1676.
The ring is circular in plan with a D-shaped section. The outer surface is decorated with one engraved stylised skull in ¾ profile left. The interior surface of the ring is inscribed with lower case cursive text reading "In remb: of E B 19 Mar, 76.". A sponsor or makers mark is present which appears to include the letters IS.

Description:
A complete gold finger ring of medieval date, c.AD 1300 - 1400. The hoop of the ring is circular in plan with a D-shaped section. The hoop is undecorated.
A hexagonally faceted bezel projects from one side of the hoop sloping and expanding upward slightly. Worn zigzag engraved decoration survives around the top of the bezel. The sub-circular aperture of the bezel, now worn, overlaps a cabochon gemstone or glass. The gem/glass is dark in colour, possibly black or a deep red.
