Gold finger ring. The band has a stylised engraving of a skull on the external face. Internally, the ring is inscribed 'AK at 12 Jan 1700 at 78'; there is also a maker's mark, comprising the letters 'WN' below a small crown. The ring is not quite circular, measuring 20.63mm by 18.31mm overall. The internal diameter is a maximum of 18.28mm and the band is 4.39mm thick. The ring weighs 3.89g. There are traces of black enamel in the inscription, and the skull may also have been enamelled. This is a mourning ring, worn to commemorate the deceased. It must therefore post date 12 Ja…

Gold finger ring with rectangular setting on bezel and plain, narrow band. The setting is empty, and has a circular perforation in the centre. The ring measures 22.13mm by 21.88mm,the band varying in thickness from 1.62mm at the junction with the bezel, to 1.10mm opposite the bezel. Maximum internal diameter is 20.20mm. The ring weighs 1.49g. The ring has been dated by the British Museum to the 19th century.

Gold finger ring with sub-triangular setting on bezel. The setting is empty, and has a triangular perforation in its centre. The band is plain with a rounded external surface and flattish internal surface. The band has been squashed slightly out of shape. Overall length is 27.20mm, width is 18.52mm, thickness of the bezel is 9.34mm, whilst the band is 2.07mm wide. The ring weighs 1.81g. The British Museum has dated this ring to the 19th century AD.

A British A type, uninscribed gold stater. OBVERSE DESCRIPTION: Abstact head of Apollo, facing right. Apollo is wearing a wreath with the leaves pointing downards. REVERSE DESCRIPTION: Abstact (disjointed) horse, galloping left. Pellet under the horses rump. Three lines in front of the horses front legs and a ring and pellet design in front of the horses head. A number of pellets above the horse. Below the horse there are two straight exergual lines between which there is a zig-zag design with pellets in each triangle.

A large fragment of a (undatable) pale gold bar. The object is a fragment from a rectangular shaped bar ingot made of gold. The fragment comes from the roughly pointed end of the ingot which was originally 9.5mm wide and 3mm thick. The fragment weights 5.15grams. The British Museum was unable to ascertain a date for the ingot.

Two small droplets of gold. The two droplets are different in colour due to the level of purity. The smallest is a rounded droplet of pale gold c.4.5mm in diameter and weighing 0.63g. The second is a sub-rectangular droplet of yellow gold 8mm in length, 5mm in width and 3mm in thickness, weighing 1.3g.

A gold finger ring consisting of two rods of square section, which have been twisted together and joined by hammering on the reverse side. The ring is of a similar type to examples from the Late Saxon and Viking periods, from the late 9th Century until c.1100, although these types of ring usually have rods, which has a circular section, particularly in the Viking examples. Gold rings with square section rods occur in the British Isles and may be a local form.
