An Early Early-Medieval (550-650) gold and copper alloy sword pommel, consisting of a copper alloy matrix covered with heavy gold sheet. The gold sheet is missing from one end. One face (which isn't largely obscured by mud) has recent plough damage in the form of a tear.
Both faces are decorated with beaded filigree wire in an interlace arrangement. Beaded filigree wire fills the panels to left and right of the smooth upper pommel surface in a vertical linear arrangement, and at the survivng end in a horizontal linear arrangement.
