Description:  A complete cast gold annular brooch of medieval date (c. 1200 - 1400AD).  The frame is flat on both sides with slightly rounded edges.  The frame has a constriction for the pin which is clasped around the narrow point.  The pin is slightly elongated in shape but is otherwise plain.  There is an inscription in Lombardic script on the obverse of the frame reading AVE MARIA GRACIA. A gold annular brooch. The object is circular in shape, triangular in section and terminates in two clasped hands. There are two quatrefoils or flower motifs, cast in relief onto the outer surface which is formed of two facets from the triangular section of the object. One motif is opposite the clasped hands, whilst the other is opposite a constriction in the frame, onto which the pin is attached. Description: Fragment of an applied gold disc from the centre of an early medieval composite disc brooch. The fragment is part of the curved edge of the disc. Around the outer edge is a border of fine gold beaded wire. The flat part of the disc is decorated with tiny annulets of gold beaded wire and the remains of three settings.
