A thin sheet of either gold, or gold plated metal which is wrapped around an iron component.
The sheet is decorated by sets of parallel indentations which run along the surface in a diagonal direction. The decoration appears to have been machined. Though the purpose / function of this object is not immediately clear, its style of manufacture indicates a modern date. It may have been a component of a bespoke Victorian writing implement such as a fountain pen. It has been described as non-diagnostic for the Bronze Age, Roman, Medieval and Post-Medieval per…

An 18th century - 19th century gold finger ring, worked into an continuous double loop, resembling a closed S.
The face of the ring displays a double-looped effect, formed from a single gold band which has been bent and flattened during the production to form a continuous, curved feature. The band's surface is undecorated. The style of the ring contains an element of Rococo influence (post 1730s), namely its flowing curves and undulations which were popular design elements of that period. The deliberate 'looping' of bands has remained a popular effect howeve…

Dimensions:
Hoop width: 1.3 mm

Discussion: The object is similar in style to LVPL-F848BA, WMID-E6F361, WMID-E6E061 and ESS-F1E6C3. In those cases because the finger ring has no features that would enable a secure date, there is not enough evidence to date this ring to pre-1722.
Conclusion: Therefore, owing to its similarity to other rings recorded on the PAS database and the information provided by Judy Rudoe the …

A fragment of gold foil that is folded and potentially once from a larger item of uncertain dating.
The undiagnostic fragment is formed from a flat piece of gold foil. It was potentially folded as plough damage rather than intentionally due to the way it is folded on an angle. There do not appear to be any visible marking on the object. The surfaces are smooth and of a yellow/gold colour. The metal has a slight ripple effect along one short edge.
Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find it cannot be securely dated to older than 300 years old and as such falls outside the…

Description:
A fragment of gold sheet foil with a series of decorative applied repousse marks presented on the outer face. Due to the condition and the small size of the fragment the overall design is unclear. The sheet has been folded into two and it is difficult to establish if this is deliberate and post depositional or later damage in the ploughsoil. What remains of the decorative design consists of a series of nine circular pointille bosses formed with a round headed punch or awl that has been worked from the underside to create the form. These bosses are arranged along one long…
